I hope everyone got some rest and enjoyed Labor Day. The holiday offers a chance for all to reconnect with family and friends as we celebrate the hard work of everyone in Alief ISD and beyond for our country. Although it’s only the start of the year, educators labor daily to support our students and families, and these pauses can be essential.
Even though it’s early in the school year, it’s never too soon to begin focusing on opportunities that help our students succeed. We start every day with classroom instruction, where all students are encouraged to Think IT, Write IT, Talk IT, and Prove IT. Additionally, students have opportunities to participate in after-school activities that support their learning. Some activities, though extracurricular, play a vital role in classroom success. The influence of an engaged coach on the field or court can be very powerful. The encouraging words from a cheer sponsor or theater teacher can inspire a student in remarkable ways. Let’s all encourage each student to join something that connects them to Alief ISD beyond the classroom.
I am excited about this year! I am excited to “Be all in with Alief ISD”!

“Let’s Make It Clear” Backpack Policy
In an effort to improve the safety measures currently in place, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year and beyond, Alief ISD will require all intermediate, middle, and high school students to use clear backpacks.
Students participating in an extracurricular activity are permitted to carry non-transparent bags to store items pertaining to their particular activity (i.e., band, athletics, etc.).
All extracurricular activity bags must be stored in designated areas upon entry into the school and are subject to search.
Additionally, the maximum size for non-transparent bags that students in intermediate, middle, and high school will be permitted to carry during the school day, such as lunch kits, pencil bags, and purses, will be “6 x 9”.
Elementary school students will be allowed to continue using traditional backpacks.
