IMD is a Texas-chartered special-purpose management district covering roughly twenty square miles of southwest Houston centered on the Bellaire and Beechnut corridors. The district funds public-safety initiatives, infrastructure projects, economic development programs, community grants, and beautification across one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Houston.
A volunteer board of directors oversees IMD strategy and operations. The board meets regularly and welcomes public attendance — see the Board of Directors page for current members.
IMD is funded through a property assessment levied on commercial properties within the district boundary, authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality under the district's service plan.
The IMD boundary spans approximately twenty square miles across parts of Houston ZIP codes 77036, 77072, 77074, 77083, and 77099. See the District Maps page for an interactive boundary map.
