OCTOBER 2025

Dear Chris,

As a mom of three and a former teacher, I know how much one sick day can disrupt a household, a classroom, and a workplace. Strong communities start with healthy families — and that’s why I’m committed to making health programs more accessible throughout Precinct 4.

With flu season beginning this October, there’s never been a better time to prioritize your health and well-being. That’s why I’m proud to bring Harris County Public Health and other trusted local partners directly to our community centers, so families can access vaccines, cancer screenings, women’s health visits, teen care, and free dental clinics.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Wellness Exams at Radack Community Center

  • Wednesday, October 22 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Harris County Public Health will offer services like vaccines, cancer screenings, women’s health services, and more. Call 832-927-7350 for more information.

Teen Health Clinic at Bayland Community Center

  • Every Monday – Friday | 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Children and young adults aged 13 to 24 can access free physicals, immunizations, mental health counseling, and more.

Mobile Dental Clinic at Burnett Bayland Community Center

  • Three times per month | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Harris County Public Health provides dental services for children and adults. The first visit is a dental screening, and walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are required for follow-up visits.

Caring for your health can take many forms — it’s not only about medical appointments, but also about the small, everyday steps that support your well-being. Our 10 community centers, two nature centers, and 62 parks are open for you. I invite you to visit, take a free exercise class, and enjoy the outdoors with us.

Together, we will build a healthier Precinct 4 by showing up for ourselves and each other.

All my best,

Lesley Briones

PRECINCT 4 NEWS

Commissioner Briones spearheads a balanced budget that protects public services

After months of work alongside more than 70 Harris County departments and court offices, Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones and her colleagues approved a balanced budget for 2026. This $2.769 billion budget includes increased pay for County law enforcement officers, invests in flood maintenance, safeguards Precinct funding for roads, sidewalks, and parks, and has no cuts to critical services.
Precinct 4 set to unveil an authentic, handcrafted, artisan pavilion at Arthur Storey Park
Peaking above the treetops at Arthur Storey Park, not far from the busy streets of Houston’s Asiatown, is a solid wood roof. If visitors were to get close, they may still be able to smell the mint it was shipped with to deter bugs.

Commissioner Briones Delivers Progress on 2018 Flood Bond Projects

Harris County Commissioners unanimously approved a proposal to reform the Harris County Flood bond program, increase transparency and fairness, and ensure projects with the highest impact and effectiveness are completed. The remaining $4.16 billion (from bond and partnership funds) of the $5.2 billion investment will support the completion of 147 projects across Harris County, including 27 projects in Precinct 4. Projects will focus on high-flood-risk areas and socially vulnerable communities.

One year later: Common Market keeps fresh food on the table in Precinct 4

It may be surprising to learn that in Harris County, the nation’s third most populous, half a million residents live in food deserts — areas that have limited access to affordable, high-quality fresh food.

And fresh food isn’t the only challenge. For the 800,000 people in Harris County who are food insecure — simply knowing where their next meal will come from often remains uncertain.
