Student Spotlight!

This month, we’re excited to spotlight some amazing students who’ve gone above and beyond in their community involvement!

Helin, Cindy, Katelyn, and Kelly put in tremendous effort organizing the AliefVotes Youth Workshop. Their teamwork and leadership helped make it a great success!

Not to mention, Lander has been making a difference through the Pocket Prairie Builds, helping bring more green spaces to our community.

Recently, David represented AliefVotes at the Houston Community Climate Summit, sharing his voice on important conversations around sustainability and climate action.

Finally, we’re thrilled to share the incredible story of the Alief Pocket Prairie project – a youth-led environmental justice initiative that’s transforming our community!

Student leaders from across Alief have accomplished something remarkable: working with the Resilient Cities Network and National Wildlife Federation, they’ve created two beautiful pocket prairies, developed disaster preparedness protocols, and proven that when young people lead with vision and determination, extraordinary things happen.

Huge congratulations to our student leaders – Ninet Flores Miranda, Mia Nguyen, Lander Gonzalez, Emaan Syed, Julian Nguyen, Sawsan Busari, Isabelle Arusiuka, Dudimell, Nifemi, Harrison, Omar, and so many others who turned community dreams into reality!

We’d love your feedback! Please take a moment to read about this amazing project and share your thoughts. Your input helps us continue building a more resilient, vibrant Alief. Together, we’re proving that Alief is NOT the “forgotten district” – we’re leading the way in youth empowerment, environmental justice, and community resilience!

We’re so proud of all of these students for their dedication and commitment to making a positive impact!
