Today marks the first day of fall. Yet holding to Houston form, it’s still 80 plus degrees and very humid outdoors. I am looking forward to the first significant drop in temperature to cool everything off and really let us all know that fall is here! Despite the hot temperature, it is the fall season, and it’s almost time for our Breast Cancer Walk. And I hope that our Alief community will make some time to come out and support our cancer survivors and those who may be fighting cancer. Thank you to the team led by Tiffany Tatum who organizes this fantastic event to support and celebrate our team members who are battling or who have beat cancer!
The 4th Annual Alief Goes Pink Breast Cancer Walk will be on October 4th, 2025, at the Crump Stadium from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Alief ISD Girls Clubs & Prevention and Safe Schools (PASS) Department. All funds raised will be donated to The Rose Bus.
As we move through this season, I want to encourage our families to monitor progress reports and, if a student is struggling, now is the time to reach out to the campus for help. Early intervention and support are key to our students’ success. Our teachers, administrators, and the entire Alief ISD team are here to ensure that every student is successful!
We are grateful for the strong educators working in classrooms throughout Alief ISD to help our students be successful. I appreciate Region 4 for helping us to celebrate our Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year, Paula Pineda and Sherita Harmon.

Alief ISD MVP 2025-2026 Awards Nomination Form
Each month, one student, two teachers, and two support staff will be selected as an MVP Award winner by their peers.
These winners are chosen based on evidence of their support of customer service and positive climate and culture in Alief ISD, and they will be celebrated during our next regular board meeting.
We encourage our stakeholders to submit the MVP Award Submission by September 24th, 2025.
Shout-out to Dr. Charles Garcia, Zepheena Henry, Gelyn Roble, and Vinson Lewis for their outstanding performance at the Global One Bank Houston pickleball tournament on September 14th. They took home 3rd place in the beginner bracket! We’re so proud of their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship. Go, Alief!
We’re thrilled to share that two high school art students from Alief were selected as winners for the Harris County Precinct 4’s Art on the Move Bus Design Contest!
The winning student artworks were hand-selected by Commissioner Lesley Briones and will have their artwork transformed onto Harris County Precinct 4 buses this school year. These buses travel across Precinct 4 and throughout Texas to take older residents on free day trips and serve as cooling and warming centers during natural disasters.
