More than 1.7 million people are without power.CenterPoint Energyestimated Monday evening that it would restore power to 1 million customers by the end of day on Wednesday, July 10. Many residents are expected to be without power even after Wednesday.

Monday’s garbage and heavy tree waste will be collected on Tuesday, July 9. Storm debris collections will resume. Recycling and yard waste services are suspended.
Today’s heat advisory has heat index values in the three digits. Please drink adequate water, conduct work in the early morning/evening, wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothes, and do not leave children, seniors, or pets unattended.
The City of Houston has opened cooling centers. Call 311 if you need transportation. The Alief Neighborhood Center is closed due to power. Pets are allowed at cooling centers. There will be no food, snacks, or water (besides water fountains). Specifically, near the West:
